Bill Guarinello – Chair

Bill Guarinello has been a life-long parishioner of St. Bernadette Parish. Bill was a part of the first graduating class to complete grades K through 8 at the school. Following his graduation from St. Bernadette, Class of 1962, Bill remained an active part of that community as an Athletic Director. Bill is President and CEO of HeartShare Human Services, starting as a social worker at the then Catholic Guardian Society of Brooklyn and Queens. Mr. Guarinello is Chairman of Community Board 11, President of the Fort Hamilton Citizens Action Committee (FHCAC), and Chairman of Brooklyn Remembers, Inc., an organization that planned, built, and maintains a memorial to Brooklyn’s 9/11 victims. Bill’s expertise in non-profit management and community activism, as well as deep knowledge of the St. Bernadette Community will serve the Academy well. Bill and his wife, Donna, live in Brooklyn. They are the proud parents of Alison Marino and grandparents of Gianna Nicole, Class of 2022.


Kevin Murphy – Vice Chair

Kevin Murphy is a life-long member of the St. Bernadette parish community, and a graduate of St. Bernadette School, Class of 2003. After graduating from St. Bernadette, he attended Xaverian High School, and then went to receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from Pace University, and a Master of Arts in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences from Columbia University. He currently works for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in their Supervision Group that focuses on supervising financial institutions that are deemed to be systemically important to the financial system. As a member of the Board of Directors, he looks forward to working to ensure that St. Bernadette continues to provide a first-class Catholic education that he and others have been the fortunate recipients of, as it charts its newest chapter as St. Bernadette Catholic Academy.


Mark Ljubich – Treasurer

Mark Dominick Ljubich has been an active member of Saint Bernadette and living in Dyker Heights with his wife and two sons for the past 18 years. His wife Maria is an active life-long parishioner of Saint Bernadette. Both of his two boys, along with his wife, are all graduates of Saint Bernadette, Classes of 1981, 2015, and 2016. Mark is also a student of Catholic Education having attended Saint Sebastian School in Woodside Queens and Power Memorial Academy High School in Manhattan. He currently works for MetLife Insurance Company and has previously worked for various financial institutions in diverse capacities of sales, accounting and risk management for over 35 years. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration in Finance, both from Saint John’s University.


Joseph Donohue – Secretary

Joseph Donohue has been a parishioner and usher of St. Bernadette Church for the past 20 years. Both of his children are graduates of St. Bernadette School, Classes of 2012, and 2014. He currently has three nieces and two nephews attending, Classes of 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2027. Joe served as a board member of the Dyker Heights Athletic Association for over 7 years and has coached many children from the St. Bernadette community in various sports. He is a retired Sergeant from the New York City Police Department and is also a Registered Nurse. He currently works as a dialysis nurse at Rogosin Institute in Brooklyn.


Charles Russo

Charles Russo has been a St. Bernadette parishioner for over 23 years. Both of his children were educated at St. Bernadette, Classes of 2002 and 2006. He is a results-oriented, hands-on Project Manager with over 30 years of expertise in all facets of the Construction Industry. Charles, has a verifiable track record for the successful completion of Multi-Million dollar projects for many fortune 500 companies, such as the NFL, NASCAR, Anheuser-Busch, Swarovski and Goldman Sachs. He has a positive rapport with many of the industry’s top Architects, Engineers, Building Managers & Client Representatives. He holds a BA in Construction Management from NYU. Charles is looking forward to serving on the Board of SBCA, hoping to ensure both the quality of education and a safe working environment for both students and faculty.


Catherine Sullivan

Catherine (Cathie) Sullivan and her husband Dan have been parishioners of St. Bernadette Parish for over 40 years. Their four children graduated from St. Bernadette School, Classes of 1988, 1990, and 1992, and their three grandchildren are currently members of the student body, Classes of 2016, 2018, and 2022. Cathie has been a Eucharistic Minister for 30 years, is a Trustee of the parish, and a member of the Parish Pastoral Council. She has been involved in several fundraising activities for both the school and the parish. Cathie has worked in the Financial Services industry for 35 years, and is currently a Securities Allocator at Gilder Gagnon Howe & Co.


Gaetano Taldone

Gaetano (Guy) Taldone holds a BS in Engineering from CUNY and has over thirty years of experience in Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, with Engineering (Grumman Aerospace) and Financial Services firms (John Hancock Clearing, JPMChase, GM Asset Management and others) in NY. His son Christopher, Class of 2008 and twin niece and nephew, Class of 2012, were students at St. Bernadette School. His entire family has been very active at St. Bernadette School for the last fifteen years. Guy has served on the Advisory Board of St. Bernadette School reporting to the Principal. Guy looks forward to serving as a St. Bernadette Catholic Academy Board of Directors member and participating on various committees.


Karen Turillo

Karen Turillo is a life-long parishioner of St. Bernadette Church. She is an alumna of St. Bernadette School, Class of 1971. Karen has two children, both graduates of St. Bernadette School, Classes of 2003, and 2007, and as an advocate of Catholic education encouraged both to attend and graduate from Catholic high schools and colleges. She has worked in the Financial Services/ Investment Banking sector for over 30 years. Karen has been a member of The Altar Rosary Society, served on the Advisory Board of St. Bernadette School (2009-2010) and has been a part of several fundraising events to help support the parish.
